Guidehouse is hiring a detail-oriented Medical Coder – IP DRG to support inpatient coding operations across hospital and healthcare system clients. This role requires hands-on expertise in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding, along with strong experience in MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate, compliant coding that supports reimbursement integrity and regulatory adherence.

Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes
Assign and validate MS-DRG and APR-DRG classifications in accordance with clinical documentation and regulatory guidelines
Ensure compliance with payer, reimbursement, and government coding standards
Maintain high levels of accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail in all coding activities
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical documentation teams to clarify incomplete or ambiguous records
Utilize EHR systems and coding software to complete daily coding assignments within defined timelines
Participate in quality audits, process improvements, and continuous quality initiatives
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding coding status, issues, and resolutions
Graduate in any discipline from a recognized institution
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in Inpatient DRG coding
Active and valid coding certification: CIC, CCS, or CPC (mandatory)
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems
Proven ability to ensure coding accuracy and regulatory compliance
Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
Hands-on experience with coding encoders and software such as 3M, TruCode, or Optum
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including EPIC, Cerner, or equivalent platforms
