About the Role:

We are seeking a Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing medical records, updating CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes as per the latest guidelines, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The work you do will directly contribute to improving patient care and advancing health equity on a global scale.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement updates according to AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines.
  • Review medical records and adjust CPT codes for minor surgeries, vaccines, and laboratory procedures based on documentation.
  • Extract and code screening CPT and HCPCS codes.
  • Check NCCI edits and LCD & NCD coverage, modifying ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes, and modifiers as needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts to enhance quality and productivity.
  • Organize and prioritize work to ensure timely record coding and compliance.
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards and maintain system security.
  • Comply with HIPAA policies regarding patient record confidentiality.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and directives, including flexibility in work assignments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate with a medical coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC).
  • Must provide proof of valid certification number during the interview or offer process.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
  • Understanding of system security policies and maintaining data integrity.
  • Basic knowledge of ED/EM levels and modifier application to CPT codes.
  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
