Position Overview:
As a Medical Coding Analyst, you will ensure accurate coding of clinical records, incorporating updates from relevant coding guidelines and optimizing claims accuracy and compliance. You’ll play a key role in the medical review process, supporting efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply updates from AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines effectively.
Review and analyze medical records; assign or update CPT codes for minor procedures, vaccines, and labs.
Extract and code screening CPT and HCPCS codes based on documentation.
Check NCCI edits, LCD/NCD determinations, and modify ICD-10-CM, CPT codes, and modifiers as needed.
Collaborate in a team setting to enhance quality and productivity.
Organize and prioritize coding tasks to comply with client and regulatory timelines.
Adhere to confidentiality and security protocols.
Comply with HIPAA guidelines for patient record confidentiality.
Follow company policies, procedures, and directives, including shifts or location changes as per business needs.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate with current medical coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA
Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC
Must provide proof of valid certification during interview or offer process
Strong foundation in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology
Knowledge of system security protocols for safeguarding patient data
Basic understanding of ED/EM coding levels, MDM, and correct modifier application based on NCCI edits and CPT guidelines
Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards
