Job Description:

As a Medical Coding Auditor in Surgery Coding, you will be responsible for auditing medical records, ensuring the accuracy of diagnosis and CPT codes as per ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding systems. You will work with both Outpatient and Inpatient records to maintain compliance with medical coding standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10 and CPT-4 guidelines.
  • Perform coding audits for Outpatient and Inpatient records with a minimum of 96% accuracy and meet turnaround time requirements.
  • Exceed productivity standards for medical coding, adhering to specific outpatient and inpatient coding norms.
  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards at all times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on reducing revenue leakage while ensuring compliance.
  • Regularly update coding skills and knowledge by participating in coding team meetings and educational conferences.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduates in life sciences with 2-4 years of experience in Surgery Medical Coding.
  • Experience in Medical Coding Auditing and Physician Education, preferably in Surgery Coding, is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Coding Procedures and Medical Terminology, especially in an ambulatory setting.
  • Familiarity with CPT-4, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Certification in CCS/CPC/CPC-H/CIC/COC from AAPC/AHIMA is a plus.
  • Valid coding certifications with proof.
  • Good understanding of medical coding and billing systems, regulatory requirements, auditing principles, and concepts.
