This role is ideal for certified professionals with hands-on experience in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding, particularly within MS-DRG and APR-DRG environments. The position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and optimized reimbursement for healthcare providers.

Review inpatient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and PHI guidelines
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM (Principal and Secondary Diagnoses) and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes
Apply correct Present on Admission (POA) indicators
Ensure accurate code sequencing based on clinical documentation
Apply strong knowledge of MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APGs, and medical necessity guidelines
Adhere to official coding guidelines, Coding Clinics, and payer-specific rules
Query physicians for documentation clarification when required
Track and follow up on accounts placed on hold and coordinate with internal stakeholders
Maintain productivity, quality benchmarks, and turnaround time targets
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external clients via email and reports
1 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in Inpatient (IP) DRG Medical Coding
Experience in hospital-based inpatient coding environments is mandatory
Any Graduate or Postgraduate
Active coding certification required:
CCS (AHIMA) or
CIC (AAPC)
Certification must be valid and verified at the time of joining
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines
Understanding of DRG reimbursement methodologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing business and process requirements
Experience with 3M Encoder, Optum, Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) tools
Exposure to Meditech and abstracting software
Prior experience working with US healthcare providers
