Job Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Haematology & Oncology serves as a scientific expert and trusted medical partner to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and healthcare institutions. This field-based role is responsible for delivering high-quality scientific exchange, generating actionable medical insights, supporting clinical research initiatives, and facilitating the safe and appropriate use of company products.

The MSL will engage in peer-to-peer scientific discussions, support evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to the execution of Medical Affairs strategies within the assigned territory. The role requires extensive external stakeholder engagement, with approximately 60–70% of time spent in the field.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and maintain strong scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Thought Leaders (TLs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), and healthcare institutions.

  • Conduct scientific discussions related to disease management, clinical data, treatment guidelines, and company products.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries with accurate, balanced, and compliant information.

  • Deliver scientific presentations in one-on-one, group, virtual, and institutional settings.

  • Build strategic engagement plans for key accounts including government and institutional healthcare systems such as Army Hospitals, Railways, CGHS, and other healthcare networks.


Medical Strategy Execution

  • Develop and execute territory-specific Medical Affairs plans aligned with national medical objectives.

  • Create and implement Thought Leader engagement plans based on scientific needs and strategic priorities.

  • Contribute to account planning and cross-functional medical initiatives.

  • Support implementation of medical projects, educational programs, and scientific activities.


Medical Insights & Competitive Intelligence

  • Continuously assess the external medical landscape to identify emerging scientific trends and unmet medical needs.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of:

    • Haematology and Oncology treatment paradigms

    • Clinical trial data

    • Product developments

    • Scientific literature

    • Healthcare ecosystem changes

  • Gather and communicate actionable medical insights to internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor competitor activities and evolving therapeutic area dynamics.


Internal Medical Support

  • Provide scientific and medical support to cross-functional teams including:

    • Commercial

    • Regulatory Affairs

    • Pharmacovigilance

    • Market Access

    • HEOR

    • Legal & Compliance

  • Deliver scientific training and product education to internal stakeholders.

  • Present unbiased scientific evidence during promotional and educational meetings.

  • Support evaluation and training of external speakers and faculty members.


Clinical Research Support

  • Support Interventional and Non-Interventional Research (NIR) studies.

  • Identify and evaluate potential investigators and study sites.

  • Facilitate patient recruitment initiatives where appropriate.

  • Provide field insights regarding study feasibility and site selection.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Development and CRO partners to support study execution.

  • Support Healthcare Professionals with Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) submission processes.

  • Ensure investigators understand and comply with pharmacovigilance and study-related requirements.


Pharmacovigilance & Compliance

  • Report adverse events and safety information in accordance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • Local regulations

    • Medical Affairs policies

    • Ethical guidelines

    • Industry codes of conduct

  • Support investigators and healthcare professionals in understanding safety reporting obligations.


Patient Advocacy & Education

  • Support implementation of patient education and awareness programs.

  • Collaborate with patient advocacy groups and healthcare organizations.

  • Assist in the development of patient-focused educational materials and initiatives.

  • Contribute to improving patient access and treatment awareness.


Qualifications

Required

  • MBBS

  • MD (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Postgraduate specialization in Oncology, Haematology, Internal Medicine, or related disciplines.


Experience Requirements

Required

  • Strong medical and scientific knowledge.

  • Understanding of clinical research and medical affairs functions.

Preferred

  • 1–2 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Field Medical roles.

  • Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL).

  • Experience within Oncology and/or Haematology therapeutic areas.

  • Exposure to scientific stakeholder engagement and clinical research support.
