Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Regional Director – U.S. West Region

Role Overview:
Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison Regional Director to lead a field-based MSL team in the U.S. West region. This role serves as the scientific and medical voice for ADC products, engaging with key thought leaders, healthcare providers, and institutions to ensure scientific credibility and foster collaborative medical exchange. The director will also support commercial teams with medical and scientific affairs, ensuring accurate dissemination of product and therapeutic knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the U.S. West MSL team to build and maintain professional relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 thought leaders.

  • Ensure ADC maintains a strong medical and scientific presence in academic centers, supporting research, publications, and educational initiatives.

  • Provide expert guidance to healthcare professionals on safe, effective, and appropriate use of ADC products.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, medical, and in-field leadership teams while maintaining independent MSL initiatives.

  • Facilitate scientific presentations, advisory boards, and educational events, and oversee MSL contributions at U.S. scientific meetings and congresses.

  • Identify and support key opinion leaders (KOLs) for consultancy, advisory roles, and speaker engagements.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and company regulations, codes of conduct, and best practices.

  • Track and ensure timely completion of MSL team training and professional development.

  • Report directly to the National U.S. MSL Director and collaborate with the U.S. Medical Director and Medical Outcomes Managers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in health sciences and at least 2 years of people management experience.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Pharmacy, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Nutrition, or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Proven experience in MSL operations, scientific exchange, and field-based medical leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base pay: $149,300 – $298,700 (location-dependent).
