Job Summary
Vantive is hiring a Microbiologist II, Sterility Assurance for its R&D team in Plymouth, Minnesota. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with biofilm testing, moist heat sterilization evaluation, and disinfection studies for vital organ therapy products. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of microbiology experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute biofilm experiments, including controls and reactor operations.
Perform moist heat sterilization cycle evaluations and create detailed reports.
Conduct disinfection efficacy testing for reusable medical devices.
Collaborate with product development teams, contract labs, and QA/QC functions.
Support laboratory safety, equipment maintenance, and operational improvements.
Ensure audit-readiness and regulatory compliance (GDP/GMP/GLP).
Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
Drive process improvements and new method implementations in the laboratory.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related field.
Minimum 6 years of relevant microbiology laboratory experience.
Expertise in:
Biofilm testing and reactor operation.
Moist heat sterilization and sterilization efficacy studies.
Disinfection efficacy evaluations and regulatory compliance.
Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET).
Sterility testing, Bioburden, CCI integrity testing.
Knowledge of GDP, GMP, and GLP practices.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical product development is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead laboratory activities.
