Department: Global R&D Strategy and Portfolio Management
Mission:
To provide Sanofi’s leaders with data-driven, objective, and external insights that improve R&D strategy, portfolio management, and investment decisions.
Core Functions:
Develop robust R&D strategies for future opportunities and challenges.
Sustain and prioritize R&D portfolios with high-quality benchmarking and competitive intelligence.
Support strategic investment governance and decision-making.
You’ll join the Competitive Intelligence (CI) group that collaborates with global R&D and Business Units (GBUs) to deliver valuable competitor insights for strategic decision-making.
🎯 Position Overview
The Senior Analyst – Competitive Intelligence will:
Deliver scientific and competitive insights in one or more therapeutic areas.
Support early/mid-stage R&D pipeline decisions.
Collaborate globally to track competitor strategies and identify risks or opportunities for Sanofi.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
1. Competitive Analysis & Insights
Collect and analyze data from multiple CI sources to deliver accurate, comprehensive, and actionable competitor insights.
Identify strategic implications for Sanofi and forecast high-impact changes in the R&D landscape.
Provide regular updates to senior leaders on threats and opportunities.
2. Reporting & Communication
Create CI reports and summaries for diverse needs:
Competitive landscapes (target, disease, or technology)
Clinical data comparisons
Conference coverage
Competitor event watchlists
Company profiles
Ensure all reports are well-structured and optimized for easy dissemination.
3. Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with Therapeutic Area (TA) Scientific CI leads to address key competitive topics.
Support R&D Portfolio Analytics and Benchmarking teams for consistency.
Collaborate with Commercial CI teams to share best practices.
Contribute to the evaluation of AI and digital CI tools.
4. Monitoring & Proactive Intelligence
Continuously track top competitors and deliver timely insights.
Ensure all governance meetings have the latest competitive information.
🧬 Qualifications
🎓 Education
Advanced degree in Life Sciences / Medicine (PhD, PharmD, or MD).
💼 Experience
Strong experience in pharmaceuticals/healthcare, preferably innovative pharma.
Proven background in Competitive Intelligence, including:
Secondary data analysis
R&D asset tracking (pipeline drugs, technologies, clinical trials)
Therapeutic area experience preferred in:
Cardiovascular, Diabetes, and Metabolism (primary)
Immunology (Dermatology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology)
Exposure to novel biologics or advanced therapeutic classes is a plus.

Strong understanding of drug development, therapeutic modalities, and disease biology.
Proficiency in using CI databases such as:
