Position Overview:
Assist in implementing simulation and decision-analytic models (e.g., discrete event simulation, Markov models, state-transition models, survival partition) to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of healthcare interventions. Support scientific and financial project management, and monitor project progress as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Model Development: Assist in developing health economic models for cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses of healthcare interventions.
  • Programming: Program models using Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Data Analysis: Conduct analyses, including basic statistical analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, regression), and present results.
  • Literature Review: Perform literature reviews to extract data relevant to health economic evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses.
  • Documentation: Draft sections of project deliverables such as user guides, model specifications, and technical reports.
  • Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings and draft meeting minutes.
  • Project Management: Track budget, expenses, and project timelines, and support non-billable activities such as proposal development.
  • Travel: May be required for project-related purposes.

Education, Professional Skills & Experience:

  • Required: Master’s degree in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with over one year of relevant experience.
  • Considered: Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees in other related fields (e.g., Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology) with experience in programming decision-analytic models in Microsoft Excel using VBA.

Computer Skills:

  • Required: Proficiency in Excel and VBA, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Desired: Experience with other simulation and decision-analysis software.

Personal Skills & Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of research methods and project implementation.
  • Practical experience with modeling/simulation software, particularly Microsoft Excel using VBA.
  • Strong quantitative skills and understanding of basic statistics.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates energy, a positive work attitude, and a good fit with the team.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in written and spoken English.
