Research Scientist – NMR

Expected Salary

₹8–18 LPA CTC (typically ₹10–15 LPA for candidates with 3–8 years of NMR experience)


Role Overview

The Research Scientist – NMR will support drug discovery programs through advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The role involves structure elucidation, purity assessment, molecular characterization, and collaboration with medicinal chemistry teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret:

    • 1D NMR experiments (^1H, ^13C)

    • 2D NMR experiments (COSY, HSQC, HMBC, NOESY)

  • Conduct structural characterization of synthesized compounds.

  • Support medicinal chemistry projects through analytical data interpretation.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot NMR instruments.

  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of results.

  • Collaborate with chemists and project teams to accelerate drug discovery efforts.

  • Maintain compliance with laboratory quality standards.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • M.Sc. Chemistry

  • M.Pharm (Medicinal Chemistry)

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry (preferred)

Experience

  • 3–8 years of experience in:

    • NMR spectroscopy

    • Pharmaceutical R&D

    • CRO/CDMO environments

    • Drug discovery research


Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • NMR spectroscopy principles

    • Organic chemistry

    • Structural elucidation

  • Experience with:

    • Bruker NMR systems

    • MestReNova (MNova)

    • TopSpin software

  • Interpretation of complex spectral data.

  • Understanding of medicinal chemistry workflows.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to drug discovery projects.

  • Experience handling high-field NMR instruments (400–800 MHz).

  • Knowledge of LC-MS, HPLC, and complementary analytical techniques.

  • Strong scientific documentation and reporting skills.
