Position Summary
Fortrea is seeking a dedicated Research Technician I to join our Daytona Beach, FL team. This role offers hands-on clinical research experience, working directly with healthy volunteer participants in Phase I studies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and enthusiastic about developing clinical research skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with participants while learning to interpret clinical research protocols.

  • Accurately perform vital signs assessments, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, weight, and temperature.

  • Prepare and record ECGs and Holter monitoring data.

  • Collect, process, and properly distribute biological samples according to study protocols.

  • Monitor participant adherence to dietary requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation of clinical rooms and equipment.

  • Support screening procedures and other clinical study activities as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory and clinical environment.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinical trial operations.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1 year of related clinical or laboratory experience.

  • Phlebotomy experience is required.

  • EMT, CMA, or CNA certification preferred.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.

  • Fortrea may consider equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.

Work Environment

  • Laboratory and clinical environments with exposure to electrical office equipment and biological fluids.

  • Occasional travel to other site locations may be required.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, gowns, and protective eyewear.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or remain stationary for 6–8 hours per day.

  • Repetitive hand movements to operate laboratory or clinical equipment.

  • Occasional bending, crouching, and twisting.

  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 15–20 lbs.

  • Proficiency in using computer software and electronic data collection systems.
