Job Overview
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking an experienced Scientific Writer to develop high-quality scientific and medical communication materials for global pharmaceutical and healthcare clients. The role involves creating complex scientific content such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide presentations, and other publication materials aligned with the strategic communication plan.
The Scientific Writer will manage the complete content development lifecycle—from concept and briefing to publication or presentation—while ensuring accuracy, scientific integrity, and compliance with global publication standards.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Content Development
Research and develop high-quality scientific content including primary manuscripts, review articles, abstracts, posters, and presentation materials.
Create foundational scientific content aligned with the scientific communication strategy and therapeutic area priorities.
Ensure all deliverables are scientifically accurate, evidence-based, and supported by credible references.
Medical Publications and Communication Support
Develop scientific materials for publication and conference presentations.
Prepare meeting materials for satellite symposia, including agendas, slide decks, and speaker briefing documents.
Draft summary reports for advisory boards, scientific meetings, and internal strategy discussions.
Scientific Review and Quality Assurance
Conduct internal scientific reviews to ensure alignment with core scientific messages and quality standards.
Perform quality control checks and proofreading of scientific documents prior to submission or stakeholder review.
Ensure compliance with global publication standards and industry guidelines such as Good Publication Practices (GPP).
Therapeutic Area Expertise
Develop strong expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and product portfolios.
Translate complex clinical and scientific data into concise, audience-appropriate communication materials.
Strategic Publication Planning
Support strategic and tactical publication planning activities.
Contribute to research and analysis that supports scientific communication strategies and publication roadmaps.
Team Collaboration and Mentorship
Mentor internal team members and support onboarding of new scientific writers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medical affairs, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and marketing teams.
Process Compliance and Documentation Management
Maintain documentation and records for all assigned projects according to global SOPs and compliance standards.
Ensure deliverables follow established internal workflows and project management processes.
Maintain audit readiness and ensure adherence to training and compliance requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong expertise in scientific writing, medical communications, and publication development.
Excellent literature research and data interpretation skills.
Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
