Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Coding Specialist Auditor to manage and oversee the quality of medical coding operations. This role involves auditing daily coding activities, providing feedback to coders, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards, and resolving documentation gaps with physicians.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical coding standards, clinical documentation, and audit procedures to maintain accuracy and compliance across coding operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily audits of coded clinical charts and provide actionable feedback to coding specialists.
Apply medical necessity rules, APC guidelines, and coding standards accurately for chart processing.
Query physicians regarding incomplete or unclear clinical documentation to ensure accurate coding.
Manage day-to-day quality issues, escalate risks, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Collaborate with coding teams and clinical documentation specialists to ensure compliance and maintain high-quality coding standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of medical coding, CPT, ICD-10, and APC guidelines.
Knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and ability to query for missing information.
Experience in auditing medical coding activities and providing constructive feedback.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with coders, physicians, and stakeholders.
Proficiency with EHR systems and coding software is a plus.
