Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Coding Specialist to review clinical medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures. The role requires strong expertise in coding standards, sequencing rules, and medical necessity guidelines to ensure high-quality coding for healthcare records.
The ideal candidate will combine clinical knowledge, coding proficiency, and attention to detail to maintain compliance and accuracy in coding operations.
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical medical records thoroughly and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Apply sequence coding rules accurately based on the content of medical records.
Ensure compliance with medical necessity guidelines and APC standards while processing charts.
Collaborate with clinical documentation and audit teams to resolve coding queries and ensure data integrity.
Maintain adherence to quality standards, turnaround times, and compliance requirements.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding, and medical terminology.
Knowledge of sequence coding rules and clinical documentation requirements.
Familiarity with medical necessity and APC guidelines for coding.
Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with coders, auditors, and clinical teams.
Experience with EHR systems and coding software is a plus.
