Senior Lead Clinical Data Science Programmer – ICON plc (On-site, Bangalore)
Job Summary
ICON plc is hiring a Senior Lead Clinical Data Science Programmer to elevate clinical data operations with cutting-edge data engineering, validation, and reporting strategies. Based on-site in Bangalore, this role is ideal for seasoned professionals (7+ years) in clinical data analysis, preferably within the BioPharma sector, with expertise in SQL, Python, ETL, and AWS cloud technologies.
This pivotal role ensures data integrity across multiple therapeutic areas, directly supporting critical clinical, pharmacometrics, and digital health initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Act as primary data science lead across clinical data validation, quality review, and metric design
Translate business needs into clinical data monitoring and analytics requirements
Develop study-specific data validation reports based on clinical protocols and amendments
Design ETL workflows, data ingestion strategies, and Common Data Model transformations
Query and manage large-scale EDC and non-CRF datasets across multiple platforms
Create custom dashboards and reports to support stakeholders in CDM, Safety, Pharmacometrics, and Digital Health
Document all data methodologies, assumptions, and algorithm design for reproducibility and compliance
Collaborate with cross-functional clinical and IT teams to drive consistent data management practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 7+ years of experience in clinical data analysis, preferably in BioPharma
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
Strong programming knowledge in SQL, Python, R
Proficient in ETL design, data modeling, and clinical datasets
Familiarity with AWS infrastructure including S3, Data Lake, analytics tools
Solid understanding of clinical trial workflows and data governance
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and project management skills
Must be able to work on-site in Bangalore (remote work not available)
