Job Summary

The Senior Manager – Medical Affairs is a core scientific and strategic role responsible for leading medical engagement and evidence-driven strategy across therapeutic areas within Emerging Markets.

The role acts as:

  • Primary scientific representative to external experts (KOLs)

  • Internal medical strategy lead for cross-functional teams

  • Driver of medical education, evidence generation, and scientific communication

  • Advisor for product strategy and lifecycle management


Key Responsibilities

1. External Scientific Engagement

  • Serve as the primary scientific face of the organization to:

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Physicians and healthcare professionals

  • Identify, map, and continuously profile thought leaders in relevant geographies and therapy areas

  • Develop and execute engagement plans aligned with medical strategy

  • Conduct:

    • Advisory boards

    • Medical education programs

    • Product education sessions

    • Pre-license scientific activities

    • Special medical projects

  • Deliver scientific presentations on company products (especially dermatology portfolio)

  • Ensure balanced, accurate, and evidence-based communication

  • Gather insights on:

    • Disease trends

    • Treatment patterns

    • Emerging scientific developments


2. Medical Strategy & Evidence Generation

  • Execute strategic medical affairs plans across assigned therapy areas

  • Convert KOL insights into actionable medical and strategic plans

  • Support and/or lead evidence generation initiatives:

    • Clinical insights projects

    • Real-world evidence generation

    • Publication-driven scientific output (as applicable)

  • Monitor scientific and clinical developments in therapy areas


3. Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

    • Marketing

    • Sales

    • Regulatory

    • Cross-functional franchise teams

  • Develop training programs for field and marketing teams on:

    • Latest scientific developments

    • Product knowledge

    • Disease understanding

  • Ensure alignment between medical strategy and commercial objectives

  • Support optimal patient outcomes through scientific communication and insights


4. Scientific Communication & Query Handling

  • Respond to scientific queries from:

    • Physicians

    • Internal stakeholders

  • Provide balanced, evidence-based responses to complex medical questions

  • Represent the organization in:

    • Internal scientific meetings

    • External medical and industry platforms


5. Product & Portfolio Support

  • Conduct medical evaluation of new products through:

    • Desk research

    • KOL interactions

  • Support lifecycle management of existing products

  • Ensure promotional materials are:

    • Scientifically accurate

    • Compliant with approval timelines and policies


Experience Requirements

  • ~8 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or research organization

  • Prior roles such as:

    • Regional Medical Advisor, or

    • Head Office Medical Advisor (HO Medical Advisor)

  • Experience in therapy areas such as:

    • Dermatology

    • Oncology

    • Diabetes

  • Experience in:

    • Evidence generation strategies (preferred)

    • Complex business environments

    • Medical strategy execution


Educational Qualification

  • Registered Medical Doctor (MBBS)

  • Post-graduate medical qualification (MD/MS or equivalent)
