Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is hiring a Senior Medical Coder to manage day-to-day medical coding operations involving patient chart review, diagnosis documentation analysis, coding accuracy, and production reporting.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in medical coding, strong understanding of healthcare documentation standards, and the ability to meet productivity and quality targets in a fast-paced healthcare operations environment.

This role requires close coordination with team leaders, adherence to client requirements, and strict compliance with organizational policies.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Coding & Auditing

  • Perform coding and auditing of patient charts based on project and client requirements.
  • Review diagnosis reports and clinical documentation for accurate code assignment.
  • Ensure coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance with coding standards.
  • Apply client instructions, coding updates, and process changes during daily production.

Productivity & Operational Management

  • Update and clear production and pending reports regularly.
  • Meet productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time expectations within defined timelines:
    • Daily targets
    • Monthly targets
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports related to coding performance.

Team Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the Team Leader and coding operations team.
  • Monitor emails and internal communications for workflow updates, client instructions, and process changes.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of assigned work.

Issue Escalation & Compliance

  • Identify coding, process, or workflow issues and escalate them to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain strict adherence to:
    • Company policies
    • Compliance requirements
    • Client coding standards
    • Confidentiality protocols
