Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Principal Investigator (6-II) to provide strategic and scientific leadership within our process chemistry and API development function. This role will lead process development teams, oversee scale-up technologies, and ensure efficient execution of research strategies while maintaining the highest quality and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in organic chemistry with strong leadership and project management skills to mentor teams, optimize resources, and drive innovative solutions in API and chemical development projects.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of process development scientists to achieve project objectives efficiently.

  • Provide visionary guidance to multiple project groups in process chemistry research and scale-up operations.

  • Allocate resources based on project priorities and manage cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.

  • Conduct performance appraisals, set objectives, and foster professional development for team members.

Scientific & Technical Execution:

  • Lead process chemistry efforts for New Chemical Entities (NCEs), including process research, development, and scale-up technologies.

  • Apply expertise in modern and classical organic chemistry to anticipate challenges and provide proactive solutions.

  • Support the Head of Process R&D in implementing strategic research initiatives.

  • Optimize processes to enhance team productivity and overall operational efficiency.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Present project updates, technical results, and key challenges to management and stakeholders with clarity and professionalism.

  • Provide technical know-how and expert advice on complex chemistry problems.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Ph.D. or Post-Doctoral experience in Organic Chemistry.

  • Experience: 12–18 years in process chemistry, API development, and preclinical/clinical candidate molecule development, including leadership of large scientific teams.

  • Demonstrated expertise in process development, scale-up technologies, and matrix management.


Technical & Functional Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of process chemistry and API development for clinical and preclinical molecules.

  • Expertise in project management, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Proven track record in process optimization, problem-solving, and innovation in organic chemistry.


Behavioral & Leadership Skills

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to influence and inspire teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to manage matrixed teams and sub-functions effectively.
