Senior Scientific Advisor – Medical Communications
The Senior Scientific Advisor is responsible for developing and delivering scientific content in alignment with client strategy and branding objectives. The role includes content creation, strategic consultation with stakeholders, and collaboration with internal teams such as Client Services and Marketing to ensure on-time and high-quality deliverables.
Author and support publications and presentations related to product and disease areas.
Create scientific content across various formats/media per client strategy.
Critically review technical/scientific literature and reports for content accuracy.
Evaluate clinical regulatory documents (e.g., CTDs) to ensure compliance.
Develop scientifically sound and innovative solutions to meet client needs.
Act as a primary liaison with clients to ensure scientific objectives are met.
Collaborate with internal scientists and external partners.
Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Develop advisory board materials and facilitate sessions as needed.
Deliver compliant and strategic communication plans aligned with pipeline and clinical goals.
Stay informed on industry trends and best practices for content delivery.
Act as a scientific point-of-contact for the Client Services team.
Provide regular project updates and flag potential changes or risks.
Ensure all assigned projects meet agreed timelines and client expectations.
Assist in creating scientifically sound pitch materials.
Support Marketing in proposal development with relevant content and insights.
Participate in pitch meetings and strategy sessions.
Monitor industry and therapeutic area trends to identify new opportunities.
Notify Marketing of changes to project scope as agreed with the client.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Provide updates to the Head of Medical regarding project status and resource needs.
PhD (preferred) or PharmD with relevant specialization.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical communications agency.
Experience developing scientific platforms and working within a therapeutic area.
Strong scientific acumen and understanding of medical information resources.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage timelines effectively.
Team-oriented, accountable, and solutions-focused.
Highly organized and adaptable.
Willingness to travel to client meetings, advisory boards, conferences, and pitches.
💰 Annual Base Pay Range:
$95,100 – $237,700 (USD)
Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location. Additional incentive plans, bonuses, and health/welfare benefits may be included.
