Job Overview
Amgen is hiring a Manager – Scientific Communications to support global medical communication strategies across key therapeutic areas such as Oncology, Inflammation, Rare Diseases, General Medicine, and Obesity.
This role is responsible for developing high-quality scientific content, publications, and medical information materials that support medical affairs strategies and effectively communicate clinical evidence to healthcare professionals, payers, and scientific communities worldwide.
The role works closely with global medical teams, publication leads, and scientific communication operations teams to deliver impactful scientific communication plans.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scientific & Medical Content Development
Develop high-quality scientific and medical content including:
Digital scientific exchange (DSE) materials
Medical Science Liaison (MSL) resources
Medical information letters
FAQs and scientific summaries
Tailor content for global healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
2. Publications & Scientific Congress Support
Draft and develop scientific publications such as:
Manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
Abstracts and posters
Oral presentations for scientific congresses
Ensure compliance with global publication standards and guidelines.
3. Medical Information & Stakeholder Support
Address complex medical information inquiries and escalations.
Develop scientific content supporting payer engagement and compendia submissions.
Communicate clinical data insights clearly to cross-functional teams.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with global medical affairs teams and scientific communications operations.
Align scientific content with global product and medical strategies.
Maintain strong collaboration with stakeholders across global regions.
5. Process Management & Compliance
Manage content workflows, approvals, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with:
Internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Regulatory and medical communication guidelines
Contribute to process improvements and digital innovation initiatives.
Required Skills
Scientific & Medical Expertise
Strong understanding of clinical data interpretation and scientific literature analysis
Knowledge of pharmaceutical commercialization and medical affairs strategy
Experience in scientific publications and medical communications
Technical & Communication Skills
Excellent scientific writing and communication abilities
Experience with publication guidelines such as ICMJE and Good Publication Practice (GPP)
Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in biopharmaceutical medical affairs or clinical research
Familiarity with digital engagement platforms and AI tools in scientific communications
Experience working in global pharmaceutical teams and matrix environments
