About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Tender Operations to support and drive end-to-end tender management activities within the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD). This role is based onsite in Mumbai and plays a critical part in supporting commercial growth by ensuring timely, compliant, and competitive tender submissions across government and institutional customers.

As a key contributor to the tender operations function, you will work closely with sales, commercial, finance, and operations teams to manage the full tender lifecycle—from opportunity identification through submission, award, and implementation—while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the complete tender lifecycle, including identification, evaluation, preparation, submission, and post-award coordination

  • Support the commercial organization in achieving tender-related revenue targets across online and offline channels

  • Prepare detailed, technically accurate, and commercially competitive tender proposals and bid documents

  • Coordinate pricing, contractual terms, and technical inputs in collaboration with sales and commercial teams

  • Review and vet incoming tenders, tracking submission deadlines, project timelines, documentation requirements, and submission modes

  • Act as the primary point of contact for tender-related queries and contract clarifications

  • Identify, assess, and escalate potential risks or issues during the tender process and support timely resolution

  • Manage documentation uploads, downloads, and submissions through customer-specific portals, including government platforms

  • Develop and execute GeM (Government e-Marketplace) business plans to grow market share, analyze performance data, and drive key business actions

  • Maintain accurate tracking of live tenders and opportunities, ensuring visibility across stakeholders

  • Build and maintain a centralized database/library of standard tender responses, continuously improving content quality and efficiency

  • Coordinate tender implementation plans for awarded contracts to ensure order conversion and customer satisfaction

  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and tender process optimization projects

  • Generate reports, dashboards, and business insights to support data-driven decision-making

  • Coordinate with CRM and SFDC teams to ensure accurate reflection of tender opportunities and outcomes


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in tender operations, bid management, or commercial operations within life sciences, healthcare, or technology sectors

  • Proven experience managing government and institutional tenders, including GeM (Government e-Marketplace) processes

  • Prior exposure to chromatography, mass spectrometry, laboratory instruments, or capital equipment businesses is preferred


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in tender preparation, bid management, and contract coordination

  • In-depth knowledge of GeM tendering processes and compliance requirements

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and process improvement skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience with SAP, SFDC, or other CRM platforms is an advantage

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective stakeholder engagement capabilities

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
