Position Summary

The Associate Medical Writer will support the Clinical Services team in creating, reviewing, and annotating promotional medical content. This role involves assisting with literature searches, organizing references, verifying citation accuracy, and evaluating scientific literature for appropriate sourcing. The Associate Medical Writer will develop content under direct supervision while ensuring compliance with AMA-style, brand guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of high-quality, medically accurate content in print and digital formats for medical communications.

  • Conduct literature reviews to validate promotional claims and ensure accurate references.

  • Annotate resources, organize references, and prepare documentation for medical, regulatory, and legal review.

  • Ensure adherence to AMA-style guidelines and brand-specific formatting requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and participate in project meetings, status updates, and reviews.

  • Maintain consistent quality, accuracy, and scientific integrity in all deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BA/BS in Life Sciences or BA/BS in English with at least 1 year of experience in a pharmaceutical agency, medical communications company, or healthcare advertising.

  • Experience: 0–1 year in medical writing, healthcare communications, or pharmaceutical/managed care industry.

  • Skills:

    • Knowledge of AMA-style formatting.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

    • Familiarity with scientific literature search engines such as PubMed and Google Scholar.

  • Competencies:

    • Strong written and verbal communication.

    • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.

    • Ability to manage multiple deadline-sensitive projects.

    • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience summarizing healthcare and scientific literature for managed care or pharmaceutical audiences.

  • Understanding of managed care organizations (HMO, MCO, PBM), healthcare delivery systems, and relevant health reform legislation.

  • Exposure to medical communications for promotional or educational campaigns.


Benefits & Compensation

  • Estimated Salary Range: $52,000 – $72,000 USD annually (dependent on skills, experience, and location).
