Clinical Scientist – Infectious Disease (Remote, US)

Job Summary:

ICON plc is hiring a Clinical Scientist – Infectious Disease to support clinical trial protocol development, data review, and regulatory document preparation for global studies. This is a remote, home-based role suited for candidates with 3–5+ years of clinical research experience, ideally with infectious disease trials. Join the world’s largest and most comprehensive clinical research organization and drive innovation in drug development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and amend clinical trial protocols and related regulatory documents (IBs, safety updates, submission dossiers)

  • Assist in pharmacovigilance activities including safety reporting and monitoring meetings

  • Support preparation for regulatory authority meetings and documentation

  • Create and deliver training materials and best practice guidelines

  • Lead and support study-level meetings including Investigator and Data Monitoring meetings

  • Guide consistent implementation of study assessments, CRFs, and protocol-level requirements across sites

  • Conduct clinical data review and identify insights through ongoing analysis

  • Support database lock activities, interim analyses, and resolution of medical issues

  • Enhance data review tools and processes for accuracy and subject safety

  • Collaborate with clinical development leads for medical escalations


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, clinical, or healthcare-related fields

  • 3+ years of experience for Clinical Scientist, 5+ years for Senior Clinical Scientist

  • Strong working knowledge of GCP, clinical trial design, and Phase 1–3 drug development

  • Hands-on experience in infectious disease clinical studies preferred

  • Proficiency in clinical data systems (e.g., EDC, Excel) and tools

  • Experience in matrix-based environments and cross-functional collaboration

  • Strong prioritization, multitasking, and high-quality standards under time constraints

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
