Role Overview

ICON is seeking a Senior Clinical System Designer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced clinical systems across global clinical trials. This role plays a critical part in enhancing study design, execution efficiency, and system-driven innovation while ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.

The position is well-suited for an experienced clinical systems professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional, global teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of clinical systems aligned with study protocols and operational workflows

  • Partner with clinical operations, data management, biostatistics, and IT teams to identify system enhancements and innovation opportunities

  • Oversee system integration, testing, validation, and user acceptance to ensure optimal functionality and performance

  • Provide strategic input on the adoption of new clinical technologies, tools, and best practices

  • Ensure systems meet regulatory, quality, and compliance standards across global studies

  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and system modernization initiatives

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline

  • 8–12 years of experience in clinical system design, configuration, or implementation within a CRO or pharmaceutical environment

  • Strong hands-on experience with clinical trial systems such as EDC, CTMS, eCOA, RTSM, or related platforms

  • Proven ability to lead system design activities within cross-functional, matrixed teams

  • Solid understanding of clinical trial processes, data flows, and regulatory requirements (ICH-GCP, 21 CFR Part 11)

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
