Role Overview
ICON is hiring a Clinical Data Science Lead – External Data to support and lead advanced data science initiatives within clinical trials. This role plays a critical part in transforming complex external clinical data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and clinical development outcomes.
The position requires strong leadership, advanced analytical expertise, and close collaboration with cross-functional clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and execution of data science strategies for external clinical trial data.
Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Data Management, and other stakeholders to define data and analytics requirements.
Oversee the development of statistical models, analytical frameworks, and data interpretation methodologies.
Guide and mentor data scientists and analysts on best practices in clinical data analysis and visualization.
Translate complex analytical findings into clear insights and recommendations through presentations and reports.
Ensure data science activities align with clinical research standards, regulatory requirements, and quality frameworks.
Education & Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
Experience Required
7+ years of experience in clinical data science, biostatistics, or advanced analytics within clinical research, CRO, or pharmaceutical environments.
Proven experience leading data science or analytics projects involving external or real-world clinical data.
Hands-on expertise with statistical software, data analytics platforms, and visualization tools.
Prior experience in project leadership or people management is strongly preferred.
