Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-focused Medical Coder to support invoice validation, clinical documentation accuracy, and reimbursement integrity within a structured revenue cycle management environment. This role is responsible for accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding, coding audits, and close collaboration with billing teams to ensure timely and compliant claims processing.

The position is ideal for experienced coders with a strong understanding of Medicare guidelines, clinical documentation standards, and healthcare reimbursement workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive coding audits and documentation reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance, including work performed by co-sourced partners.

  • Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for inpatient, outpatient, same-day surgery, and denial-related services as required.

  • Collaborate with billing teams and system work queues (WQs) to support clean claims submission and optimize reimbursement outcomes.

  • Ensure adherence to Medicare policies, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and payer-specific coding guidelines.

  • Independently manage assigned coding work queues while meeting productivity and quality benchmarks.

  • Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) in strict accordance with HIPAA and information security policies.

  • Maintain a professional, ethical, and results-oriented approach to all coding activities.

  • Support additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Certification (Mandatory):

    • CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification.

  • Education:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Experience Level:

    • Mid-Level | Minimum 2+ years of professional medical coding experience, with exposure to:

      • Inpatient DRG (IP)

      • Outpatient (OP)

      • Denials Management

      • Same-Day Surgery (SDS)

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding standards.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    • Ability to work efficiently with coding, billing, and healthcare IT systems.

  • Preferred:

    • Surgical coding experience is an added advantage.
