About the Role

A leading global healthcare and consulting organization is seeking a detail-oriented Coder – Profee OB Gyn (E/M & Procedure) to join its medical coding operations team in India. This role is ideal for experienced medical coders with expertise in OB Gyn coding, emergency department coding, evaluation and management (E/M), procedural coding, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately reviewing clinical documentation and translating diagnoses, treatments, and procedures into standardized medical codes while ensuring productivity, compliance, and coding accuracy aligned with client and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign medical codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems for patient diagnoses, procedures, and treatment documentation.
  • Perform coding for OB Gyn professional fee (Profee), E/M, and procedural cases as per client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain daily coding productivity targets while ensuring adherence to turnaround time commitments.
  • Review and process assigned case volumes as allocated by the Team Lead.
  • Follow internal coding guidelines, client protocols, and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Deliver coding accuracy levels consistently above 95% quality benchmarks.
  • Interpret patient medical records across various specialties with high precision.
  • Collaborate with quality analysts, supervisors, and coding leadership for performance feedback and continuous process improvement.
  • Attend weekly team meetings, quality review sessions, and workflow discussions.
  • Work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative coding team environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and security of healthcare information in compliance with organizational data protection policies.
  • Report any information security incidents according to internal compliance procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Paramedical Sciences, Healthcare, or related medical disciplines
  • 1 to 2 years of professional medical coding experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • ICD-10-CM coding
    • CPT coding conventions
    • HCPCS coding systems
    • OB Gyn coding
    • Emergency Room coding
    • E/M coding methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail with speed and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and workflow management capabilities

Preferred Skills

Candidates with the following additional skills will have an advantage:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools
  • Experience using medical coding platforms such as:
    • 3M Encoder
    • TruCode
    • Optum Encoder
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) / Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as:
    • EPIC
    • Cerner
  • Exposure to multiple coding specialties including:
    • Emergency Department (ED)
    • Outpatient E/M
    • Inpatient E/M
