Senior Coder – Profee Pulmonology (E/M & Procedure) | Medical Coding Specialist

Job Overview

We are hiring a Senior Coder – Profee Pulmonology (E/M & Procedure) for a leading healthcare revenue cycle management organization. This role focuses on advanced professional fee coding for pulmonology services, including evaluation and management (E/M) and procedural coding.

The position requires strong expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, with specialization in pulmonology-related outpatient clinical documentation.

  • Experience Required: 2–3 years of medical coding experience (Profee coding preferred)

  • Education Qualification: Life Sciences / Paramedical Graduate or Postgraduate

  • Work Type: Full-time

  • Shift Requirement: As per operational requirement (may include rotational shifts)

  • Travel Required: None


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for pulmonology diagnoses and procedures

  • Perform E/M (Evaluation & Management) and procedural coding for pulmonology cases

  • Ensure all coding assignments are completed within defined Turnaround Time (TAT)

  • Review assigned work volumes provided by Team Lead (TL)

  • Maintain coding accuracy of 95% or higher consistently

  • Prepare coding outputs in compliance with client-specific and regulatory guidelines

  • Collaborate with TLs and QA teams for performance feedback and quality improvement

  • Participate in weekly QA and team review meetings

  • Ensure strict adherence to data confidentiality and healthcare compliance policies

  • Report any information security incidents as per organizational standards

  • Work effectively in a collaborative coding team environment


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and pulmonology procedures

  • Ability to interpret clinical documentation and physician notes

  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines

  • Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to maintain accuracy and productivity under workload pressure


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coding tools such as 3M Encoder, TruCode, or Optum

  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems like Epic or Cerner

  • Exposure to multiple specialties including Emergency, Radiology, and Outpatient coding

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools
