Director – Patient Safety

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Patient Safety leader to join as Director – Patient Safety. The role is responsible for leading patient safety strategy, benefit–risk assessment, and cross-functional safety operations across products and regions. The incumbent will drive regulatory compliance, team leadership, and continuous improvement in global pharmacovigilance and patient safety systems.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and contribute to regional/functional patient safety strategy

  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable objectives and KPIs

  • Shape benefit–risk strategy and safety governance

Patient Safety & Risk Management

  • Lead safety signal detection, evaluation, and risk mitigation activities

  • Guide safety decision-making across product lifecycle

  • Ensure compliance with global pharmacovigilance regulations

Regulatory & External Interface

  • Act as patient safety representative in regulatory interactions and inspections

  • Engage with external agencies and industry forums

  • Ensure inspection readiness and compliance standards

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop patient safety teams

  • Drive performance management, succession planning, and capability building

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation

Operational Excellence

  • Manage priorities, resources, budgets, and performance targets

  • Drive process improvements and digital transformation initiatives

  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration across global teams


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, or Healthcare-related field

  • Advanced degree preferred (MD, PharmD, MSc, PhD or equivalent)

  • Strong clinical or healthcare background with patient safety exposure


Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in Patient Safety / Pharmacovigilance / Clinical Safety roles

  • Proven leadership experience in global or regional healthcare organizations

  • Experience in cross-functional and regulatory environments


Core Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Expertise in benefit–risk assessment and risk management

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management

  • Ability to lead global, cross-functional teams

  • Strong decision-making and strategic thinking ability


Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of disease areas and latest clinical research trends

  • Experience with digital tools, safety databases, and e-enabled systems
