Job Overview
Novartis is seeking an experienced Expert Scientific Writer to support the creation of high-quality, complex scientific and medical content across global development programs. This role plays a critical part in delivering scientifically accurate, publication-ready content aligned with defined scientific communication plans (SCPs).
The successful candidate will take full ownership of content development from initial briefing through final publication or presentation, ensuring first-time-right delivery while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigor and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation of complex scientific content, including primary and review manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and foundational core content
Develop scientifically accurate, evidence-based, and well-referenced materials aligned with approved scientific narratives and quality standards
Demonstrate strong therapeutic area and product knowledge across assigned programs
Prepare materials for satellite symposia, advisory boards, and internal or external scientific meetings, including agendas, slide content, speaker briefings, and post-meeting reports
Perform internal scientific and quality reviews to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance with scientific and regulatory standards
Clearly communicate complex medical and scientific concepts in a concise, audience-appropriate manner
Conduct quality control and proofreading activities to meet stakeholder and publication expectations
Mentor junior scientific writers and support onboarding of new team members
Collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multicultural global teams
Experience Required
Minimum 5 years of experience in medical writing or medical communications
Hands-on experience in developing publication-level scientific content within clinical research or pharmaceutical environments
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences discipline with minimum 5 years of clinical research experience, or
Master’s degree (MSc / MPharm or equivalent) with extensive clinical research or medical communications experience
Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multicultural global environment
