Position Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Formulation Scientist in the Oral Solids Division. The role involves formulation design and development, implementation of Quality by Design (QbD), scale-up for manufacturing, technology transfer, and regulatory documentation for oral solid dosage forms.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end formulation development of oral solids, including development, execution, filing, and regulatory approval.
Perform pre-formulation studies: material characterization, drug-excipient compatibility, and Reference Listed Drug (RLD) characterization (including reverse engineering and formulation/process optimization).
Coordinate closely with the analytical team to design Proof of Concept (POC) studies for developing generic equivalents of RLDs.
Support scale-up to pilot/plant scale manufacturing for oral solid products.
Monitor development activities to ensure robust, effective, and bioequivalent drug products within set timelines while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Prepare risk evaluation and mitigation documents, scale-up batch documents, and filing documents for all stages of development.
Execute technology transfer and support manufacturing batch execution.
Review development data and participate in discussions with experts to finalize prototype selections.
Participate in strategizing sourcing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and raw materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal system requirements.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
3 to 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical companies with a focus on Oral Solid Dosage forms.
Skills and Attributes:
Technical Skills:
Strong expertise in formulation development of oral solids.
Experience in generic product development.
Knowledge and experience in Quality by Design (QbD).
Proficiency in process optimization and scale-up operations.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Hands-on experience in technology transfer.
Behavioral Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative team player with ability to work cross-functionally.
