Job Summary

The Image Data Processing Technologist is responsible for processing, quality control, standardization, and management of medical imaging data used in clinical trials and research studies. The role supports imaging operations by ensuring imaging datasets meet protocol requirements, regulatory standards, and sponsor expectations.

The incumbent will work closely with Imaging Scientists, Clinical Project Teams, Research Sites, and Data Management teams to ensure high-quality imaging data is available for analysis, regulatory submissions, and clinical decision-making.

This position requires expertise in medical imaging modalities, image processing techniques, DICOM standards, quality control procedures, and clinical research imaging workflows.


Key Responsibilities

Image Data Processing

  • Process medical imaging data according to study-specific protocols and standard operating procedures.

  • Perform image reconstruction, formatting, anonymization, and standardization activities.

  • Ensure imaging datasets comply with sponsor, protocol, and regulatory requirements.

  • Apply validated image processing tools and workflows to maintain consistency and quality.


Imaging Quality Control (QC)

  • Conduct quality control reviews of imaging datasets.

  • Verify:

    • Image completeness

    • Technical quality

    • Protocol compliance

    • Data integrity

    • Imaging acquisition standards

  • Identify image quality issues and discrepancies.

  • Escalate quality concerns and support corrective actions.

  • Ensure imaging data meets acceptance criteria for analysis and reporting.


Medical Imaging Data Management

  • Manage imaging data throughout the study lifecycle.

  • Maintain accurate imaging records and processing documentation.

  • Ensure traceability of all imaging activities and modifications.

  • Support secure storage and transfer of imaging data.


DICOM & Imaging Standards Compliance

  • Work with imaging data in compliance with:

    • DICOM Standards

    • Clinical Trial Imaging Guidelines

    • Sponsor Requirements

    • Regulatory Expectations

  • Verify image metadata accuracy and consistency.

  • Ensure proper anonymization and de-identification of patient information.

  • Support image standardization initiatives across studies.


Study Setup & Workflow Support

  • Assist in setup and validation of study-specific imaging workflows.

  • Configure imaging parameters and processing requirements according to protocol specifications.

  • Support implementation of imaging software and system upgrades.

  • Participate in workflow testing and validation activities.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with:

  • Imaging Scientists

  • Clinical Project Teams

  • Clinical Operations

  • Site Personnel

  • Data Management Teams

  • Quality Assurance Teams

  • Sponsors and CRO Stakeholders

  • Resolve image quality issues and data discrepancies.

  • Provide technical support related to imaging data processing.

  • Participate in project meetings and operational discussions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within imaging operations.

  • Identify opportunities for:

    • Workflow optimization

    • Automation

    • Process standardization

    • Data quality enhancement

  • Support implementation of best practices and innovative imaging solutions.

  • Participate in operational excellence projects.


Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of imaging activities.

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • SOPs

    • Study Protocols

    • Regulatory Guidelines

    • Quality Standards

  • Support audit and inspection readiness activities.

  • Assist with preparation of documentation for sponsor reviews and regulatory inspections.


Educational Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Qualification in:

  • Radiologic Technology

  • Medical Imaging

  • Biomedical Engineering

  • Radiography

  • Health Sciences

  • Life Sciences

  • Related Scientific or Technical Discipline

Equivalent Experience

Relevant experience in medical imaging, imaging core laboratories, or clinical research imaging environments may be considered.
