This role partners closely with the Site Leadership Team and Global Category Procurement teams to align procurement strategies with business priorities while ensuring compliance with global procurement policies, SOPs, and governance standards.

The position balances strategic sourcing initiatives with day-to-day operational procurement delivery, ensuring uninterrupted supply, cost optimization, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

  • Ensure site requirements are incorporated into global category strategies and local sourcing decisions.

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for local categories of spend aligned with business needs.

Procurement Operations & Supplier Management

  • Manage site procurement activities across Manufacturing Indirects, Capex, and tertiary packaging categories.

  • Oversee a site indirect spend portfolio of approximately GBP 6 million annually (excluding logistics).

  • Develop, manage, and optimize the local supplier base to ensure continuity of supply, quality, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and innovation.

  • Lead negotiations and contract management for select procurement categories, including e-auctions and rate contracts.

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives across indirect, manufacturing indirect, and Capex spend through continuous improvement and benchmarking.

  • Manage site-wide indirect spend including MRO, facilities management, utilities, administration, production consumables, quality chemicals, EHS, and scrap.

  • Support greenfield and brownfield pharmaceutical project procurement activities.

  • Manage OEM spares procurement, imports, and indigenous spares development to deliver cost benefits.

  • Support supplier consolidation and aggregator models where applicable.

Stakeholder & Matrix Collaboration

  • Work effectively within a matrix organization, coordinating with global category teams and remote procurement colleagues.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Compliance, Engineering, and Global Commodity Managers.

  • Provide procurement input to site leadership and contribute to balance sheet optimization through best-in-class procurement practices.

Risk Management

  • Integrate risk management into procurement activities to secure supply continuity.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to single-source suppliers and long-standing local vendors.

Education & Qualifications

Required:

Preferred:

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical indirect supplier ecosystems, including equipment and services vendors.

  • Direct materials exposure (excipients, chemicals, packaging materials) is an added advantage.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities.

  • Sound knowledge of contract management, sourcing methodologies, and e-auction platforms.

  • Experience in cost benchmarking, supplier consolidation, and continuous improvement frameworks.
