Management Trainee – Medical Coding (E&M)

Job Summary

The Management Trainee – Medical Coding (E&M) role is designed for experienced medical coders specializing in Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding. The role involves supporting operations, ensuring SLA delivery, assisting in training and performance management, and contributing to KPI and reporting processes within a fast-growing healthcare RCM organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Delivery & SLA Management

  • Deliver coding outputs in alignment with client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Ensure timely completion of assigned medical coding tasks.

  • Support smooth execution of end-to-end coding operations.

Process Management & Documentation

  • Assist in end-to-end operational planning and execution.

  • Review and maintain process documentation for accuracy and updates.

  • Ensure adherence to established workflows and coding standards.

Training & Team Support

  • Support onboarding and training of new team members.

  • Assist in reviewing staff performance and identifying improvement areas.

  • Contribute to skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.

KPI & Reporting

  • Prepare and support KPI tracking, dashboards, and performance metrics.

  • Assist in generating operational reports for leadership review.

  • Monitor productivity and quality performance indicators.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and client-specific guidelines.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in coding accuracy and efficiency.

  • Maintain compliance with healthcare coding regulations.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical coding.

  • Strong specialization in Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • E&M coding guidelines

    • ICD-10-CM coding system

    • CPT coding conventions

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including:

    • Excel

    • PowerPoint

    • Word

Key Skills

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a structured, SLA-driven environment

  • Team collaboration and coordination skills

  • Adaptability to shift-based and onsite work requirements

Salary Criteria

Expected Salary: ₹5–8 LPA for candidates with 5–7 years of strong E&M medical coding experience; professionals with consistent SLA delivery, training exposure, and KPI ownership may earn ₹8–10+ LPA depending on performance, accuracy levels, and leadership contribution.
