Job Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Manager, Clinical Data Management (FSP) to lead Functional Service Provider (FSP) data management operations and oversee global clinical data management teams. This role focuses on managing project staff, optimizing resource allocation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting operational excellence in clinical research programs.

The Manager will collaborate with senior leadership to mentor teams, manage portfolio workloads, ensure quality delivery, and support the successful execution of global clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage FSP clinical data management staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, mentoring, and professional development.

  • Oversee team workload distribution and resource allocation across global clinical data management projects.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to ensure timely, accurate, and budget-compliant project delivery.

  • Support portfolio teams to meet or exceed client expectations through operational oversight and quality management.

  • Monitor and manage global resource planning and reporting in collaboration with senior management.

  • Ensure team adherence to regulatory requirements, documented procedures, and standard operating processes.

  • Assist in the implementation of operational activities across studies and portfolios with a strong focus on data quality.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical data management processes, procedures, and training programs.

  • Review and approve time records, expense reports, and administrative activities for assigned staff.

  • Support salary administration, performance reviews, corrective actions, and employee relations activities.


Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of clinical data management processes, regulatory requirements, and global SOPs.

  • Experience operating within Functional Service Provider (FSP) business models.

  • Excellent organizational and numerical analysis skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional documentation expertise.

  • Ability to manage confidential clinical and proprietary data.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, supervise, and manage global teams.

  • Ability to manage timelines, adjust to changing project demands, and drive performance outcomes.

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.


Educational Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic or vocational qualification in life sciences, clinical research, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in the clinical data management domain.

  • At least 2+ years of experience managing large global teams.

  • Demonstrated experience working within the Functional Service Provider (FSP) model.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered.
