About the Role
As a Manager, Manufacturing Sciences at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll lead a cross-functional team in the newly created Cost Value Engineering Center of Excellence, driving alternative sourcing and productivity projects globally. This role offers a dynamic environment where your leadership will be critical in ensuring supply chain continuity, managing projects, and implementing practical process improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to scientists and engineers, managing resources efficiently in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.

  • Oversee alternative sourcing programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and reporting progress to executive leadership.

  • Lead the execution of projects, ensuring governance, best practices, and timely project delivery.

  • Develop and maintain systems of record (e.g., Per Angusta, PPM Pro, Power BI, Rever) for process improvements.

  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and decision-making to meet organizational goals.

  • Manage project requirements, design specs, and ensure effective implementation of software and systems to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Align the team with strategic goals and shift priorities based on executive direction.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent) preferred; Technical graduate degree a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing sciences or a technical role, ideally in the biotech industry, or 3 years of experience with a master’s degree. 15 years of applicable leadership experience may substitute for a degree.

  • Additional Experience: Manufacturing or laboratory environment experience (preferred). Continuous improvement knowledge (Lean, PPI, Six Sigma, 5S) is a plus. Project Management and PMP certification are also beneficial.

  • Strong project management skills, with experience using tools and software for project execution.

  • Ability to lead or support cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interact at all organizational levels.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills in science and engineering contexts.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.

  • Strong understanding of processes, testing, and quality requirements in the industry, including ISO regulations and cGMP operations.

  • Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 20% of the time.
