About the Role
As a Manager, Manufacturing Sciences at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll lead a cross-functional team in the newly created Cost Value Engineering Center of Excellence, driving alternative sourcing and productivity projects globally. This role offers a dynamic environment where your leadership will be critical in ensuring supply chain continuity, managing projects, and implementing practical process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership to scientists and engineers, managing resources efficiently in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
Oversee alternative sourcing programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and reporting progress to executive leadership.
Lead the execution of projects, ensuring governance, best practices, and timely project delivery.
Develop and maintain systems of record (e.g., Per Angusta, PPM Pro, Power BI, Rever) for process improvements.
Facilitate cross-functional communication and decision-making to meet organizational goals.
Manage project requirements, design specs, and ensure effective implementation of software and systems to achieve desired outcomes.
Align the team with strategic goals and shift priorities based on executive direction.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent) preferred; Technical graduate degree a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing sciences or a technical role, ideally in the biotech industry, or 3 years of experience with a master’s degree. 15 years of applicable leadership experience may substitute for a degree.
Additional Experience: Manufacturing or laboratory environment experience (preferred). Continuous improvement knowledge (Lean, PPI, Six Sigma, 5S) is a plus. Project Management and PMP certification are also beneficial.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
Strong understanding of processes, testing, and quality requirements in the industry, including ISO regulations and cGMP operations.
Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 20% of the time.
