Job Summary
The Microbiologist role is responsible for performing microbiological testing, analysis, and validation to ensure product safety and compliance with regulatory standards. This role supports the maintenance of microbiological quality throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Testing & Analysis
Prepare microbiological media as required; monitor observation and proper disposal of tubes and plates.
Conduct periodic microbiological tests as per schedule and SOPs.
Perform Bacterial Endotoxin Test (BET) on products.
Conduct bioburden analysis on raw materials, packaging materials, and in-process samples.
Perform enumeration tests for biological indicators and bacterial challenge tests.
Perform sterility testing on finished products and stability samples as assigned.
Perform microbiological analysis on stability samples, finished products, raw materials, packaging materials, and in-process samples according to daily work plans and SOPs.
Conduct gram staining of colonies and send samples for identification.
Coordination & Quality Control
Coordinate with the technical department regarding machine abnormalities impacting microbiological quality.
Sign off on all documents related to microbiological testing.
Analyze water samples for BET, bioburden, and pathogens, including post-maintenance water system testing.
Qualify prepared media through growth promotion testing.
Maintain and update stock records for media and reagents used in microbiological analysis.
Communicate monthly procurement requirements to the store personnel and supervisor.
Validation & Reporting
Perform microbiological validations according to established protocols.
Accurately record all microbiological testing data.
Prepare procurement lists for media and reagents.
Report any abnormalities in microbiological testing to the Supervisor or, in their absence, to the Microbiology Head.
