Job Summary
Novartis is seeking a Discovery Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in NMR spectroscopy and HDX-MS to drive drug discovery initiatives targeting cellular surface receptors. Based in Emeryville, California, this role is ideal for PhDs passionate about cutting-edge biophysics, molecular interaction studies, and interdisciplinary pharmaceutical research. This prestigious program fosters scientific innovation and provides training in radioligand therapies, siRNA, and antibody-drug conjugates.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement biophysical experiments to study protein-ligand interactions on living cells
Establish workflows using on-cell NMR and HDX-MS to support drug discovery pipelines
Validate findings with orthogonal techniques and in-vitro models
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across discovery science and disease areas
Disseminate research through publications, presentations, and internal reports
Engage in Novartis Postdoctoral community programs, seminars, and collaborative learning
Explore fundamental scientific questions while advancing industry-relevant skillsets
Required Skills & Qualifications
PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field
Extensive experience in BioNMR (Ligand-Observed and Protein-Observed techniques)
Familiarity with HDX-MS and/or cell culture is highly desirable
Strong record of scientific publications or equivalent achievements
Passion for exploratory science, critical thinking, and method development
Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills
Must have received PhD on or after May 2023 or be in final year of thesis work
