Job Overview

Sanofi is hiring a Principal Scientific Writer to lead high-impact scientific communication and publication strategies across multiple therapeutic areas.

This is a senior leadership role involving end-to-end ownership of medical content, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring scientific writing teams. The role also contributes to shaping medical communication plans and driving innovation in scientific content delivery.


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Content Leadership

Create complex and specialized scientific content independently.

Manage end-to-end development of publication and medical education materials (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks).

Ensure compliance with tools like PromoMats/iEnvision and regulatory standards.

Act as subject matter expert across therapeutic areas.


2. Strategic Medical Communication

Define and implement stakeholder engagement strategies.

Provide strategic input into medical communication plans, including:

  • Scientific communication platforms

  • Messaging frameworks and lexicon

  • Communication objectives

Support publication strategy and execution across regions.


3. Project & Portfolio Management

Manage multiple projects across franchises or therapeutic areas.

Oversee timelines, quality, and delivery of scientific content.

Support budget discussions, resource allocation, and planning.

Drive process improvements and operational efficiency.


4. Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with global scientific communication teams and medical departments.

Interact with healthcare professionals and external experts.

Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Provide strategic publication support and recommendations.


5. Team Leadership & Mentorship

Coach and review work of senior and junior scientific writers.

Support capability building and individual development plans.

Partner with team leads/global leads to strengthen team performance.

Promote best practices in scientific writing and communication.


6. Process Excellence & Innovation

Conduct publication needs analysis and implement annual publication plans.

Work with vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver outputs.

Leverage digital tools and innovative approaches for content development.

Continuously improve processes based on feedback and best practices.


7. Performance & Quality Delivery

Ensure timely delivery of high-quality publication materials.

Act as a subject matter expert and mentor within the team.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
