Job Overview
Sanofi is seeking a Principal Scientific Writer to lead the development of high-quality scientific and medical communication materials. This role involves managing end-to-end publication and medical education content development, supporting strategic scientific communication initiatives, and collaborating with global stakeholders across therapeutic areas.
The Principal Scientific Writer will oversee complex publication projects including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and educational materials while ensuring scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with medical communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Content Development and Publication Management
Develop complex scientific and medical communication materials including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and educational resources.
Manage the end-to-end publication and medical education content development process.
Ensure proper documentation, review, and approval of materials within platforms such as PromoMats and iEnvision.
Maintain compliance with internal processes and regulatory guidelines for scientific publications.
Strategic Scientific Communication
Contribute to the development of scientific communication strategies and medical communication plans across therapeutic areas.
Draft scientific communication objectives, communication platforms, and standardized scientific lexicons.
Support planning and implementation of publication strategies and annual publication plans.
Therapeutic Area Expertise and Knowledge Development
Develop and maintain deep expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and medical communication processes.
Provide scientific insights and support to strengthen the scientific ecosystem within the scientific writing teams.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Maintain effective relationships with global medical and scientific stakeholders within assigned business units and product teams.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and scientific experts during publication development processes.
Partner with cross-functional teams including medical, technology, and communication teams to enhance digital transformation initiatives.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
Provide guidance, coaching, and content review for senior and junior scientific writers.
Support professional development initiatives within the scientific writing team.
Contribute to building best practices for scientific writing, publication processes, and project management.
Project and Performance Management
Manage multiple publication and medical communication projects across therapeutic areas simultaneously.
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality scientific materials aligned with strategic objectives.
Support stakeholder engagement strategies to strengthen collaborations with academic institutions and healthcare professionals.
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
Identify opportunities for improving scientific communication workflows and publication processes.
Implement best practices in project management, documentation, and technical quality control.
Support budget discussions and resource allocation in collaboration with team leadership.
Required Skills and Competencies
Extensive experience in medical communications, scientific writing, and publication development.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations, medical publications, and compliance processes.
Expertise in developing publication materials such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
