Senior Oncology Account Manager – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Job Overview

Exelixis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Oncology Account Manager to lead strategic commercial execution across the Pittsburgh territory. This role is designed for a seasoned oncology sales professional with a strong track record of launch excellence, deep market knowledge, and established relationships within the oncology ecosystem. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, and serve as a trusted partner to healthcare professionals, institutional stakeholders, and internal leadership.

This position plays a critical role in driving sustained growth, shaping compliant customer engagement strategies, and fostering a high-performance, values-driven culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic execution across a complex oncology territory or multi-state geography, delivering consistent commercial performance

  • Build, expand, and maintain high-impact relationships with oncologists, healthcare providers, and key institutional stakeholders

  • Advance scientific and clinical understanding of Exelixis oncology therapies to support appropriate patient use

  • Leverage advanced analytics, market intelligence, and customer insights to optimize territory and account strategies

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with medical affairs, market access, reimbursement, and marketing teams to address clinical and access challenges

  • Represent field insights in brand planning, launch readiness, and tactical innovation initiatives

  • Identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and unmet needs within the oncology landscape

  • Serve as a field-based ambassador for new product launches, pilots, and strategic initiatives

  • Lead strategic pull-through initiatives in partnership with access and reimbursement teams

  • Support regional leadership through business planning, training support, and performance calibration

  • Act as a mentor and subject matter resource to junior team members, sharing best practices and supporting capability development

  • Model the highest standards of compliance, professionalism, and ethical engagement


Education and Experience Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of oncology sales experience

  • Proven success in oncology product launch execution

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex accounts and institutional stakeholders

Work Environment and Travel

  • Field-based role with up to 50% travel required

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 181,500 to USD 232,000, dependent on geographic location, experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition to base compensation, Exelixis offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes:
