Job Overview

Exelixis is seeking an experienced Senior Oncology Account Manager to lead strategic commercial execution across the Sacramento territory. This role is designed for a high-performing oncology sales professional with deep market expertise, strong healthcare provider relationships, and a proven ability to drive sustainable growth in complex territories.

As a senior field leader, you will independently manage sophisticated account strategies, act as a trusted partner to oncologists and institutional stakeholders, and contribute valuable field insights to cross-functional teams. Your work will directly support appropriate utilization of Exelixis oncology therapies while upholding the highest standards of compliance, integrity, and ethical engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute advanced territory and account plans across a complex geography to achieve consistent commercial performance.

  • Build, expand, and sustain strategic relationships with oncologists, healthcare providers, integrated delivery networks, and institutional decision-makers.

  • Communicate complex clinical and scientific data effectively to support appropriate use of Exelixis oncology products.

  • Leverage market analytics, competitive intelligence, and customer insights to optimize territory strategy and influence internal planning.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, medical affairs, access, and reimbursement teams to deliver coordinated customer solutions.

  • Represent field insights during brand planning discussions and support tactical innovation initiatives.

  • Identify emerging market trends, competitive threats, and unmet patient and provider needs within the territory.

  • Lead pull-through strategies in partnership with access and reimbursement teams to address coverage and operational challenges.

  • Serve as a field ambassador for new product launches, pilots, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support regional leadership with business planning, training initiatives, and performance calibration.

  • Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices and supporting ongoing skill development.

  • Demonstrate consistent excellence in compliance, professionalism, and ethical customer engagement.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of oncology sales experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

  • Proven product launch experience in oncology is required.

  • Demonstrated success managing complex territories and high-value accounts with minimal supervision.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a related discipline with 9 years of relevant professional experience, or

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline with 7 years of relevant professional experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Field-based role requiring up to 50% travel within the assigned territory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: USD 181,500 – 232,000 annually, depending on geographic location, experience, skills, and internal equity.
