Job Overview

Exelixis is seeking an experienced Senior Oncology Account Manager to lead strategic commercial execution across the San Jose territory. This senior-level role is designed for accomplished oncology sales professionals with strong market insight, established provider relationships, and proven launch experience. The successful candidate will independently manage complex accounts, influence cross-functional strategies, and serve as a trusted partner to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.

This role plays a critical part in driving sustainable growth, advancing appropriate use of Exelixis oncology therapies, and reinforcing a high-performance, compliant, and patient-focused culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic account planning and execution across a complex oncology territory or multi-site geography to achieve sustained business growth.

  • Build and expand long-term relationships with oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other key stakeholders to support education and appropriate adoption of Exelixis products.

  • Utilize advanced analytics, market intelligence, and customer insights to optimize territory strategy and influence internal decision-making.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with medical affairs, access, reimbursement, and marketing teams to address clinical, operational, and access-related challenges.

  • Represent field insights in brand strategy discussions and contribute to innovative tactical initiatives.

  • Identify competitive dynamics, emerging trends, and unmet needs within the oncology landscape.

  • Lead pull-through strategies in partnership with market access and payer teams.

  • Act as a field ambassador for new product launches, pilots, and strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, integrated delivery networks, and institutional decision-makers.

  • Support regional leadership through participation in business planning, training initiatives, and performance calibration.

  • Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices and supporting professional development.

  • Consistently demonstrate the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and professionalism in all interactions.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of oncology sales experience, with demonstrated success in complex territories.

  • Product launch experience is required.

  • Proven ability to manage strategic accounts independently and influence outcomes through data-driven decision-making.


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 9+ years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline with 7+ years of relevant experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 181,500 – 232,000, with final compensation determined by geographic location, experience, skills, and internal equity.
