Role Overview:
We are seeking a Medical Coding Specialist – Healthcare to ensure precise coding of medical services and products, supporting billing, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance. The role combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance coding accuracy, operational efficiency, and patient care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately assign medical codes for healthcare products using ICD, CPT, and other coding standards.
Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Collaborate with clinicians and cross-functional teams to verify and update coding information in patient records.
Perform regular audits and quality checks to maintain coding accuracy and process efficiency.
Utilize coding software and healthcare management systems for accurate data entry and reporting.
Provide recommendations for improving coding workflows and operational practices.
Assist in training new team members on coding guidelines, systems, and best practices.
Stay current with evolving coding standards, healthcare regulations, and reimbursement requirements.
Support the implementation of new coding technologies and system upgrades.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
2+ years of experience in medical coding within the healthcare industry.
Active coding certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical terminology.
Proficiency in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and compliance.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with clinicians and internal teams.
Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with healthcare billing, claims processing, and reimbursement protocols.
Experience contributing to process improvement or quality assurance initiatives in coding operations.
