Role Overview:
Abbott is seeking a Senior EP Field Clinical Specialist to provide advanced clinical and technical support in the Electrophysiology (EP) Business Unit. This remote, field-based role covers the Central and Western US regions and requires travel up to 80%. The specialist will support clinical research studies, troubleshoot complex procedures, and serve as a key liaison between clinical sites, Abbott’s Clinical Affairs Organization, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert field support for clinical research procedures using Abbott EP technologies.

  • Serve as a clinical, technical, and protocol resource for physicians, research staff, and internal stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical sites in the assigned territory, including site qualification, enrollment strategies, and protocol compliance.

  • Facilitate contract/budget negotiations and training for site staff regarding protocol requirements and technology.

  • Support patient enrollment and optimize study execution, providing feedback to clinical site teams on best practices.

  • Troubleshoot technical or procedural challenges in the field, contributing to improved trial performance and patient safety.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Scientists, study teams, R&D, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Product Management to advance key EP BU initiatives.

  • Provide high-level scientific and clinical education at regional and national events, product launches, and advisory boards.

  • Serve as a “pipeline” between Abbott and the medical community, delivering feedback, competitive insights, and product performance updates.

  • Mentor junior field clinical specialists and support broader organizational goals beyond primary responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or related field (or equivalent certification in cardiology/electrophysiology).

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in cardiovascular clinical work.

  • 2–3 years supporting clinical trials or investigational studies in cardiovascular or EP therapies.

  • Strong EP technical expertise combined with clinical research operations experience.

  • High proficiency in EP Lab and/or Cath Lab protocols and procedures.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, exceptional presentation abilities, and cross-functional influence.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 80% during active trial enrollment periods.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EP clinical background with field-based experience.

  • Recognized as a clinical and technical leader in cardiovascular or EP studies.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite and electronic clinical trial tools.
