Role Summary
The Senior Research Associate supports strategic decision-making by transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. The role involves data extraction, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration to support business and operational initiatives within athenahealth.
Team Overview
The Strategic Engagement & Solutions Management team focuses on:
Business research and data analysis
Insight generation for decision-making
Supporting operational and strategic initiatives
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to evaluate business performance and opportunities
Key Responsibilities
Data Extraction & Analysis
Extract data from internal systems and source files
Analyze large and complex datasets
Identify trends, patterns, and insights
Reporting & Insights
Create summaries, reports, and presentations
Translate findings into actionable business recommendations
Interpret business and operational performance metrics
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work with cross-functional teams to define analysis requirements
Understand business questions and deliver appropriate analytical outputs
Coordinate to clarify priorities and requirements
Data Validation & Quality
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data
Validate datasets before reporting or sharing insights
Process Improvement
Develop repeatable analysis frameworks
Maintain structured documentation of work
Support continuous improvement in reporting and analytics processes
Additional Responsibilities
Support ad hoc analysis and special projects
Assist in preparing internal presentations and review materials
Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation
Track deliverables and ensure timely completion
Use AI-enabled tools for productivity while ensuring human validation
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field
OR equivalent practical experience
Experience
4–7 years in:
Research
Business analysis
Data analytics
Reporting or related roles
Technical Skills
Strong experience with data extraction and analysis
Proficiency in SQL for querying and data validation
Experience working with structured datasets
Ability to convert data into insights and recommendations
Core Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Clear communication of insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Experience working in cross-functional environments
