About the Role

A leading biopharmaceutical services organization is seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to support the launch of a cardiovascular therapy within the critical care segment. This is a highly strategic, field-based leadership role focused on driving market access, institutional adoption, and account growth across complex healthcare systems.

The selected professional will act as a senior liaison to academic medical centers, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), and hospital leadership teams. Reporting to the Area Business Director, this role plays a critical part in shaping institutional strategy, contract execution, and commercial success.

This opportunity is ideal for senior pharmaceutical account leaders with deep expertise in cardiology, critical care, and managed markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic business development initiatives within academic institutions, IDNs, and GPOs.

  • Drive product adoption by engaging prescribers, pharmacy leaders, P&T committees, and executive decision-makers.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive account plans including protocol pathways, formulary access strategies, and pull-through objectives.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Managed Markets, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Trade, Contracting, and Marketing teams to optimize market penetration.

  • Support contract communication, pricing alignment, and reimbursement strategy execution.

  • Navigate EMR systems, CPOE processes, and order set integration to facilitate institutional adoption.

  • Collaborate closely with National Account Managers, MSLs, Area Sales Directors, and field leadership teams.

  • Provide insights on market dynamics, competitive landscape, and institutional barriers to access.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.

  • At least 7+ years working with large academic health systems, IDNs, and/or GPOs.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Critical Care and/or Cardiology markets.

  • Proven contract management and institutional account leadership experience.

  • Strong knowledge of managed care coverage, reimbursement pathways, and payer access strategy.

  • Experience collaborating across commercial, medical, marketing, and market access teams.

  • Understanding of EMR platforms, CPOE systems, and hospital order set development.

  • Ability to travel 50% or more.

  • Cardiology launch or startup biotech experience preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) required.

  • Advanced degree preferred but not mandatory.
