Job Summary
Amgen, a global biopharmaceutical leader, is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager – R&D Cross Category to drive global procurement strategies and supplier negotiations from its Hyderabad office. This pivotal role supports the strategic sourcing of research and development-related services, enabling innovation while maintaining cost efficiency and regulatory compliance. Ideal for professionals experienced in R&D vendor sourcing within the life sciences domain.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead global strategic sourcing initiatives for R&D and cross-category procurement
Manage end-to-end supplier negotiations and contract lifecycle management
Perform data-driven analyses on procurement trends and supplier performance
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with organizational goals
Engage in market analysis and manage RFPs, supplier evaluations, and strategic contracting
Drive supplier performance, cost optimization, and innovation in R&D sourcing
Ensure regulatory compliance and implement risk mitigation strategies in procurement activities
Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity teams
Support junior team members and champion continuous improvement in sourcing practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Master’s degree with 4–6 years of sourcing experience
OR Bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years
OR Diploma with 10–12 years of sourcing experience
Must-Have Skills:
Proven experience in strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations
Strong knowledge of global e-Sourcing and CLM tools (SAP Ariba, Workday Strategic Sourcing, Sirion Labs)
Proficiency in English communication (verbal and written)
Experience with contract development and procurement compliance
Good-to-Have Skills:
Background in R&D sourcing within life sciences or academic institutions
Familiarity with ERP systems and analytics platforms
Strong financial, legal, and operational understanding of procurement
Stakeholder influencing and vendor relationship management
Experience managing cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance in pharmaceutical sourcing
