Job Summary
Amgen is hiring an experienced Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager – R&D Cross Category for its Hyderabad office. This leadership role supports the development and execution of global strategic sourcing initiatives across R&D functions. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation, cost efficiency, and supplier performance in the life sciences procurement domain. This is a high-impact role ideal for professionals with a strong background in pharmaceutical sourcing, vendor management, and strategic negotiation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead global sourcing strategy and vendor negotiations across R&D categories.
Develop go-to-market procurement plans aligned with category and business strategies.
Conduct supplier evaluations, contract lifecycle management, and risk mitigation.
Analyze procurement data to drive insights, savings, and performance improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide procurement guidance.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and risk frameworks.
Drive continuous improvement and mentor junior team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications
12+ years (Master's) or 15+ years (Bachelor's) in sourcing or procurement.
Minimum 2 years in people or project leadership.
Proven experience with R&D sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract development.
Proficiency with tools like SAP Ariba, Workday Strategic Sourcing, or Sirion Labs.
Deep knowledge of supplier management, risk mitigation, and compliance.
Strong communication, analytical, and change management skills.
Understanding of regulatory and operational risk in life sciences procurement.
Experience in matrixed, global organizations preferred.
Preferred Skills
Prior experience with sourcing for academic or life sciences vendors.
Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced analytics tools.
C-suite stakeholder management capability.
